While we provide reliable rolling stock, our customers play a critical role in ensuring the safe operation, handling, and maintenance of leased equipment. By following best practices and regulatory requirements, customers help protect shipments, staff, equipment, and the communities in which we operate.


Preparation
- Comply with all laws, regulations, and requirements for freight transport
- Adhere to commodity restrictions outlined in your lease agreement
- Obtain all required maintenance approvals and equipment releases before operation
- Inspect equipment before use in line with infrastructure and Safety Management System requirements
Freight
- Always wear PPE when working near rail facilities, tracks, or equipment
- Follow industry regulations and guidelines for loading containers
- Distribute shipment weight evenly and within load limits
- Secure all doors, gates, and hatches before departure
- Ensure Cargo is fully contained within the equipment
Operations
- Notify Rail First’s Helpdesk of any operating defects for real-time support
- Report any injuries, derailments, or damage to the relevant authorities.

- Maintain safe travelling speeds within track and operational restrictions.
- Secure and test equipment when not in use, following rail safe standards
